The ApiFix® procedure offers an innovative surgical option for correction of progressive adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). It fills a crucial treatment gap, offering a less invasive, motion-preserving option for curve correction – without the permanence of fusion.
The ApiFix procedure replaces complexity with simplicity. With three pedicle screws and a familiar posterior approach, the unilateral technique is less invasive than other surgical treatments.
The posterior, unilateral approach of the ApiFix procedure may reduce operating time as well as tissue disruption and bony anatomy removal. This may lead to reduced length of hospital stay and overall faster recovery as compared to more invasive surgical treatments.
The ApiFix system has been engineered and thoroughly tested to stand up to active lifestyles. The novel design, using polyaxial joints and a self-adjusting rod, allows a degree of motion that is not possible with rigid implants.

The ApiFix system is indicated for use in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis meeting the following criteria:
Use of the ApiFix system in patients with curves of lower magnitudes (i.e., < 40 degrees) is based on the risk for curve progression.
